Tobias was born 1985 in Marburg an der Lahn, Germany. After watching through the whole library of his local video store as a young teenager he quickly realized that the moving picture business is the only business he wants to partake on a professional level.
He studied Media Technology (B. Eng.) and Media Computer Science (M. Sc) at the University of Applied Sciences Düsseldorf. During this time he started working as a Videographer, Editor, Digital Image Technician and Compositing Artist on various commercial and feature film productions. In 2009, he had the pleasure to see his name in the rolling credits of a feature film for the first time as a Compositing Artist.
In 2012, he moved to Berlin in pursuit of new creative and technical challenges in the field of VFX production and filmmaking. Since then, Tobias worked with national and international companies like Rise Visual Effects, Mackevision, Pixomondo, Screenscene, nhb studios, Storz & Escherich, Spellwork, CinePostproduction and Animal Logic as a Composting Artist, Technical Director and Colourist on major Hollywood blockbusters and TV commercials.
Tobi, like 99.7% of the moving picture industry calls him, likes to be part of the creative process, but also enjoys to dig deep into the technical and nerdy aspects of the film production and postproduction. He is a firm believer in the philosophy of “no” should never be the only option, let alone a full sentence.
Most of the time, he uses his Canon C200 and all kinds of lighting equipment and camera gear for his cinematography. In post-production, he works with Nuke X (since 2009), Maya and DaVinci Resolve, After Effects, Premiere but never shies away from utilizing every tool necessary to get the job done.
You can find an (almost) up-to-date CV here but his IMDB and LinkedIn are also great ways to find out what Tobi is currently up to.
